Team Spotlight: Milo Kyle

Meet our unsung heroes
Milo Kyle, Apprentice

Milo is heading off to university following his three-year apprenticeship with Fordway!

This month, we’re shining the spotlight on our Apprentice, Milo, who is off to study Aerospace engineering at UWE University.

It’s been a pleasure having Milo help the team out over the last few years, working in Business Administration and Marketing, where he has been able to use both his creative and technical skills. Milo says the skills he’s learned at Fordway will help him to progress in his degree:

‘I’d love to go into research and development for a big aero company, and with the skills I’ve learned the past two years I think I will be able to integrate much better than other graduates.’

It all started with applying for an apprenticeship via the government apprentice website – ‘I felt like the Fordway values aligned with my own compared to other companies, so I had to apply.’

We asked Milo about his experience over the years:

‘Most of all I have learnt useful system processes and general information about how businesses work and function. I can now use these transferrable skills in any environment which is great as I start my career. I have really enjoyed learning about account-based marketing which will help with the research and analytical side of my degree.

I also enjoy the team culture – we like to have team lunches to catch up as some of us work from home primarily. Fordway has regular socials so we can get to know who we’re working with, as well as volunteering days where we all get the chance to step away from our desks and get outdoors to help out. This includes working with charities in animal conservation and helping to clean up the local community.’

What advice would you give to someone else considering an apprenticeship?

‘The skills I’ve learned will really help me to progress once I’m in University and beyond. Being in a real work environment has made me a much more rounded individual and I would hugely recommend an apprenticeship.

It gives you hands-on experience, the opportunity to gain qualifications and build your skills so you can go on to pursue your chosen career with confidence.

If you’re considering an apprenticeship in the IT field, I can’t stress enough that having skills in Excel and customer relationship management programmes such as HubSpot will help you stand out and can take you to great heights.’

What makes Fordway a great place to work is our people.

From getting to know our customers and understanding their needs, to enabling users and their organisations to do more with less, people are at the heart of what we do. We’re proud of the people that we work with and that means we are committed to helping them reach their full potential.
